John 4 - Jesus & the Samaritan Woman

1.  Jesus went THROUGH Samaria

2.  Jesus talked to a WOMAN

He gave her an invitation and interrupted her plans.

1st trip:

Sometimes there are things we don't ask for or intend... BUT BECAUSE IT DID... YOU HAVE A MINISTRY!

It's in these broken places that beautiful things grow!

Think of Ruth, David, Mary, Paul...

God said, "I have another idea!"

John 15:16

2nd trip:  

TAKE TIME TO STOP AND ADDRESS YOUR PAIN!

What's going on with you?

1.  Admit to yourself 

2.  Be honest with others

3.  Acknowledge by what you are committed to

Are you bleeding?  Don't ignore the blood.  Stop and get some help.

*WE'VE BEEN DUPED INTO THINKING THAT SLOWING DOWN IS NOT OK AND BECAUSE OF THAT MANY OF YOU ARE BLEEDING TO DEATH."

You have permission to slow down!

Be honest, address the pain-- Don't bleed out.

Someone who is bleeding out won't make the whole trip.

Psalm 23:1-3

He makes me lie down-- REST

He leads me beside still waters-- REFRESHMENT

He restores my soul-- RESTORATION

If your soul is flat, everything else is flat.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "I trust You!  I could try and figure it all out BUT I trust You!"

Sometimes my actions are telling God, "I've got to do this myself because I don't trust You."

Rest & recognize... You are working while I am waiting.

When you choose rest you give God room to refresh your soul.  

You cannot heal anyone else when you are not healed.

Let Him heal you!

Choose rest & refreshment! 

It's OK to stop and address your pain. 

3rd trip:

I couldn't do the thing she wanted to do.

Because I was so upset and distracted about that I missed what was really important.

I was so distracted by what I wanted to check off the list.

The most important?  Do you know Him, have relationship with Him and is your souls on fire for that?

***The urgent will always try to skip the line and get in front of the important.

Focus!  What is your finish line?

Philippians 1:10

Fancy mall example... she had to "go"

Move at your 1st inclination.  Don't wait!  By the time you realize, you've waited too long... it will be too late. 

4th trip:

The best thing about the trip wasn't the bridge this time... it was that I shared it

Samaritan woman- she decided to share it

It's not about that thing... it's about how we walk with the people we know and minister to!

***It's in the sharing of the journey that we really enjoy the journey.

It's about how we walk with others.

Are you walking in the gifts you have?

The Samaritan woman shared her experience.

***The best thing I can share is what He's done for me!

I am going to celebrate what I've got!  It's enough!

Celebrate the "2-pack" on the way to the 6!

I am choosing to celebrate who I am, what He's doing and what He is creating me to be!

As He works... CELEBRATE!
