Job Wishes for Jesus... Take-aways from this morning's teaching by Leah Dipascal "The Perfect Mediator" on Job 6-10 #First5 Job has heard from his buddies Eliphaz and Bildab and has been left broken. He so badly wants to prove his innocence. In an attempt to do so, the great gap between him and God becomes oh so apparent. In chapter 9 and verse 32 we see where Job recognizes that God is not a mere mortal... and concludes "if only there was a mediator!" Job is wishing for Jesus! As Leah said... "What Job was longing for... Christ ultimately fulfilled." 1 Timothy 2:5 and Hebrews 9:15 both describe Jesus as our perfect mediator. "What Job was unsure of, we have full assurance of... what Job was desperately wanting, we have full access to." Jesus is the Perfect Mediator because... 1. He is the only one fully qualified to stand in the gap between mankind and God. He closed the gap on the Cross! 2. He identifies with our suffering and can sympathize with our weaknesses. He felt it, too but did it without sin. 3. He continues to intercede on our behalf! What a beautiful thing... He wasn't finished at the Cross... that made it possible for us to have access but He didn't stop there. He continues to intercede on our behalf. (Romans 8:34, Hebrew 7:24-25) God has given us incredible gifts in this book. In the first couple of chapters, God gives us a glimpse of what goes on in the heavenly realm that Job could not comprehend or make sense of from his place and circumstance. God helps us understand His perspective and reassures us of His great love and protection even when things are going bad! There's so much more than we can see or know! In as many times as I've read the story of Job... I've passed over the desperate longing here for Jesus. It is something I take so for granted! In these last passages we see what it would be like before we had the HOPE of Jesus. I honestly can't imagine life without my Jesus. May I never again take that hope we have for granted. May it be a source of strength for me as I go through struggles. If only Job had known His wish was coming... was coming true!
